Unveiling the NEW-MEDIA Lab
The esports and media landscape in Singapore has a massive new playground. As highlighted in the November 2022 issue of Systems Integration Asia magazine, the NEW-MEDIA Lab has officially opened its doors. Located on the second floor of the Kallang Wave Mall in Singapore, this next-generation event space is managed collaboratively by Esports Entertainment Asia (EEA) and BELLS Academic Group.
Spanning 3,300 square feet, the facility is explicitly designed to be an all-integrated, tech-enabled event centre. It serves as a premier destination for both massive digital events and a broad spectrum of hands-on media courses.
A Multi-Faceted Venue for Every Need
The NEW-MEDIA Lab offers all the bells and whistles required to conduct business meetings, seminars, product launches, award ceremonies, and full-scale recordings. Its open concept allows organizers to configure the space entirely to their specific needs.
Key features of the space include:
- Recording studio grade acoustic treatment capable of accommodating anything from orchestral recordings to soundstage-style video shoots.
- A dedicated control room fitted with a see-through glass panel to ensure mixing engineers and editors can work effectively.
- Streaming-ready infrastructure powered by a 5G enabled internet service installed by M1.
- A large green screen equipped with chroma and luma keying capabilities.
- Properly designed rigging structures capable of accepting fixtures from video projectors to line-array speakers.
- An extensive inventory of state-of-the-art lighting, visual, and audio equipment ready for use.
Empowering the Next Generation of Media Professionals
Beyond hosting spectacular events, the lab serves as a state-of-the-art WSQ Training Centre. It offers targeted media courses designed to train much-needed skilled professionals.
- Flagship programmes include WSQ Sound Engineering for Live Events and WSQ Lighting Engineering for Live Events.
- Both of these flagship programmes are completely eligible for Skillsfuture Credit.
- The centre will offer post-production courses focusing on sound design, video editing, and Linear Media Operations for virtual and hybrid events.
- The organization runs Career Conversion Programmes that can provide up to 90 percent salary support for companies hiring specific digital and media tech roles.
A Proven Concept
The facility has already hosted a variety of highly successful events to prove its capabilities. The Ding Yi Chinese orchestra and the Vocal Associates choir both utilized the acoustically treated venue for recordings. Furthermore, HARMAN International and Electronics & Engineering successfully conducted a demonstration of JBL loudspeakers, utilizing the acoustic treatment to avoid disturbing neighbouring units.
Showcasing its gaming roots, the space also served as a premier venue for the Asia E-Sports Festival organized by EEA. Accessible via the Kallang and Stadium MRT with plenty of F&B options nearby, the NEW-MEDIA Lab is ready to make seismic waves in the industry.
